DinamiQs has been working with GreenBytes technology for several years. The performance, capacity and intelligence of GreenBytes solutions enables us to improve our VDI technology in the areas of IOPS, bandwidth and consolidation ratios, resulting in many thousands of virtual desktops, running at full speed, on a single GreenBytes array.
Our first major encounter with GreenBytes technology was at CeBIT back in 2010 where we used a GreenBytes appliance as a replacement for a multi-million dollar tier-1 storage array that shipped in three large cabinets — and unfortunately arrived without any disks because the transporter forgot to load three pallets of disks! That early GreenBytes unit, a GB-4000, managed 4500 Windows XP desktops on a single array, blowing away what the tier 1 vendor would have done had it come to us in one piece!
From both a cost and efficiency perspective, GreenBytes units always provide our customers with an optimal solution to host their virtual desktop and server platforms. Although we usually run with whatever our customer decides, there are a few recommendations for storage that we tend to make, and GreenBytes certainly delivers the best-of-breed.
With the new Solidarity globally optimized solid state storage array, GreenBytes has again increased the capabilities, features and performance of their solutions, allowing DinamiQs to drive consolidation and densities of VDI. Although the DinamiQs VDI solution is storage agnostic, we are confident that the GreenBytes Solidarity is one of the most cost-effective, high-performance storage arrays in the market today for this type of virtualization environment.
Currently, we are getting ready to announce the roll-out of one of the world’s first Virtual Desktop MegaClouds. It should come as no surprise that we have recommended the use of GreenBytes Solidarity units as the high-speed, high-performance storage platform of choice for this ground-breaking project. Stay tuned for details!
